Fenced was a significant piece because it was produced when I was having personal and family issues. The death of my grandfather as well as family members developing depression combined with a messy breakup and the pressures of graduation took a toll on me and made me question what I was going to do for the rest of my life. This piece serves as a reminder of overcoming my personal issues and solidifying my choice to pursue the arts as shown from the vibrant pink rose amidst the black and gray borders.

I created a composition overlaying images I've taken on my high school campus and using a variety of effects to draw the darkness of the background in juxtaposition with the vibrant flower, the centerpiece of the composition. I also experimented with varying lines and shapes, such as how the criss-crossing lines intersect with the rectangular borders that highlight the composition.
